Apple, Samsung şi marii operatori negociază adoptarea standarului E-SIM

Se pare că în viitorul apropiat smartphone-urile nu se vor mai conecta la reţele folosind clasicele cartele SIM. Apple, Samsung şi alte companii producătoare de dispozitive mobile sunt în discuţii cu GSM Association pentru a adopta un nou standard la nivel global: noul E-SIM, potrivit go4it.ro. Cipul E-SIM (embedded SIM) va fi integrat direct în telefon, iar accesul la acesta va fi restricţionat. În locul cumpărării individuale de cartele SIM, operatorul ar putea să activeze direct dispozitivul pentru a funcţiona pe reţeaua proprie, iar portarea de pe o reţea pe alta ar fi posibilă fără prea multe bătăi de cap. Adoptarea acestui standard ar putea ajuta în special dezvoltatorii de hardware, care nu vor mai trebui să irosească spaţiu cu lăcaşul pentru SIM-uri, ducând astfel la dispozitive mai compacte şi mai arătoase, fiind lipsite de inesteticele tăviţe de pe laterale. Evident, SIM-urile clasice nu vor dispărea peste noapte. Există prea multe dispozitive pe piaţă care sunt dependente de vechile cartele, iar pentru o perioadă lungă de timp acestea vor fi disponibile în paralel. Suportul pentru E-SIM din partea majorităţii operatorilor mari precum AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Orange şi Vodafone este aşteptat, însă este nevoie de adoptarea sa la nivel global pentru a ajunge pe piaţă. Momentan, aceste informaţii vin sub formă de zvonuri neconfirmate din partea publicaţiei Financial Times din Marea Britanie, însă nu este greu de crezut că Apple ar putea fi unul dintre cei mai mari susţinători ai acestei tehnologii după lansarea cartelei universale Apple SIM de anul trecut.
