Европейский союз готовится ввести единые стандарты защиты данных в интернете: во вторник представители государств-членов ЕС, Европарламента и Еврокомиссии после четырехлетних переговоров согласовали соответствующий компромисс. Как отмечает Deutsche Welle, пользователи в дальнейшем получат больше контроля над своими данными, в частности, в Google и Facebook. Им будет легче стирать касающуюся их информацию. Новые правила, которые европейские СМИ называют важнейшим законом года, должны вступить в силу к началу 2017 года, пишет The New York Times. Они заменят нормы, действующие уже 20 лет - с 1995 года. Новые панъевропейские правила хороши для граждан и хороши для бизнеса, - считает представитель Еврокомиссии по вопросам юстиции Вера Юрова. - Все выиграют от ясных правил, которые соответствуют требованиям цифровой эпохи. "Право на забвение" - прекращение выдачи ссылок поисковыми системами по требованию граждан - официально признано одним из столпов европейского законодательства о персональных данных. Если провайдеры будут нарушать новые правила, то им будут угрожать штрафы в размере до 4% годовой выручки в мире. В число нарушений входит несанкционированное использование персональных данных, включая получение доступа к сведениям без разрешения пользователя. Компании обязаны информировать национальных регуляторов об утечке данных в течение трех дней - это требование ЕС намного жестче предложения властей США. Европейские правила распространяются на все компании, имеющие клиентов или пользователей в странах ЕС, даже если сама компания базируется за пределами блока. Подход Европы к конфиденциальности частной жизни намного жестче, чем в США, - комментируют эксперт по высокотехнологичному сектору в лондонском филиале юрфирмы Linklaters Питер Кранч. - Существует фундаментальная разница в менталитете по этому вопросу. Дети и подростки до 16 лет должны получить согласие родителей, прежде чем начать использование таких соцсетей, как Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram и другие, если соответствующее государство-член ЕС не снизит этот порог для своих граждан до 13 лет.
