Financial Times продадут японцам за 1,3 млрд долларов

Британское издательство Pearson договорилось о продаже Financial Times Group Inc, включая одноименную газету, японской медиакорпорации Nikkei, говорится в релизе на сайте Pearson. Эту информацию подтверждают в Nikkei. Сумма сделки составила 844 млн фунтов стерлингов (1,32 млрд долларов). Ее планируется закрыть в четвертом квартале текущего года после одобрения регулирующими органами. Помимо газеты и сайта Financial Times, группа объединяет еще ряд изданий, связанных с FT (в том числе The Banker и Investors Chronicle), а также владеет 50-процентной долей в Economist Group (издает журнал Economist). Однако в рамках сделки с Nikkei издательство Pearson не будет продавать долю в Economist, а также расположенную в Лондоне недвижимость FT, отмечается в сообщении. В течение последних пяти лет количество подписчиков печатного издания и его интернет-версии выросло до 737 тыс. человек. Количество онлайн-подписчиков при этом составляет 70%, или более полумиллиона человек. Тираж печатной версии FT по состоянию на апрель составлял 213 тыс. экземпляров. Глава Pearson Джон Фэллон отметил, что издательство владело Financial Times более 60 лет, но развитие газеты достигло переломного момента в связи с наблюдаемым бурным ростом мобильных и социальных медиаресурсов. "В новых условиях лучший способ гарантировать журналистский и коммерческий успех FT — сделать ее частью глобальной цифровой новостной компании", — добавил он. В настоящее время Pearson намерено сосредоточиться на развитии проектов в области образовательной литературы. Неофициальная информация о продаже издания появилась в СМИ в понедельник, 20 июля. Среди потенциальных покупателей называлось немецкое издательство Axel Springer SE и японская Nikkei, фигурировали Bloomberg и Thomson Reuters. Сама Financial Times опубликовала статью, в которой называла именно немецкий концерн наиболее вероятным покупателем, но позднее в Axel Springer опровергли намерение купить FT. Financial Times — деловая газета, основанная в 1888 году. Издается на английском языке в двух десятках городов мира. На газету подписаны более 700 тыс. человек. Около 30% получают издание в печатном виде. Выручка FT Group в 2014 году составила 334 млн фунтов стерлингов, операционная прибыль — 24 млн фунтов.
